'Where Did My Tax Go' is a free website, which tailors public spending down to an individuals tax contributions. It is published, along with the suite of tax calculators, on the Governments data.gov.uk website - part of the open data initiative.
The tools uses data provided by HM Treasury from the Public Expenditure Statistical Analysis (PESA) of government spending along with forecasts of future spending and divides up the percentage of central govenment spending against the tax and ni from your earnings.

Users can neter their your gross income for the last 8 years and the app will tell them the total amount of tax and ni paid and where the government spent it.
A calculation is made om the total tax due for each of those tax years based upon personal allowances and tax rates/bandings for that tax year. Data from PESA. using the percentage of central government spending per sector is then applied to the amount of tax/ni paid in each year covered. This gives details of where an approximate amount of your money has been spent by the government.
