On November 15th to 18th an international open data conference took place in Washington DC on the invitation of the US administration. During the conference the US data catalogue, http://data.gov/ launched a community platform. Bringing social interaction to the platform will help people to exchange experiences, get guidance on how to find or handle data, discuss findings from the data, or explore ideas. This should work out positively on the reuse of the data in the catalogue and help trigger more applications and mash-ups being build using the more than 300.000 data sets currently in the platform.
