On the 9th of November the Universal Postal Union, headquartered in Switzerland, held a conference on Addressing, with the aim of raising awareness on the importance of addresses as an essential part of the socio-economic infrastructure of member countries. The presentations and documentation of the conference is available for temporary download until December 9th.
"Participants gained a better understanding of the value of addresses, shared experiences, through the presentation of case studies from member countries, on possible solutions to tackle the lack of sound addressing systems.
Among the subjects covered during the Conference: assessing the economic value of addressing systems; organizing a national addressing project; creating and implementing physical addresses; developing addressing standards; and working with delivery point databases and digital maps. In addition, a ceremony to recognize member countries that are complying with UPU international addressing standards took place."
