UK Transparency Board meets!
The UK Cabinet Office has published a news release titled: Update from the Minister for the Cabinet Office on first meeting of the Transparency Board.
The press release states:
“As part of this commitment to greater transparency, the Prime Minister announced there would be a new Public Sector Transparency Board based at the Cabinet Office, to keep pushing the transparency agenda and ensure our commitments continue to be implemented across government. To get this Board going quickly I have asked four of the country’s leading transparency and open data experts to join me - including Sir Tim Berners Lee, Nigel Shadbolt, Tom Steinberg, and Rufus Pollock. Between us, we will be responsible for setting open data standards across the whole of the public sector, listening to what the public needs and then driving through the opening up of the most sought after data sets. We’ll be working closely with developers, open data experts and business to ensure that they have a strong voice in how the transparency agenda is implemented.
On Thursday 24 June we had our first Board meeting which focused on setting out clear principles for transparency and open data. And in the spirit of transparency we would like as many people as possible to comment on our initial ideas and help us to define these important principles which we will apply across the public sector. To put forward your suggestions for what the principles should be, just log on to data.gov.uk.”
