UK - Exclusive Agreements
The UK Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) has published the Exclusive Agreements identified within the UK.
The announcement states:
“The European Commission is planning to formally investigate exclusive agreements across Member States under the European Directive on the Re-use of Public Sector Information. Exclusive agreements are where a particular organisation is granted the sole right to make use of material. OPSI contacted public sector organisations from central and local government.”
The publication by the OPSI of the Exclusive Agreements (that are known - considering the UK has over 110,000 public bodies) that still exist within the UK sets a standard for other Member States to follow.
Under the Directive 2003/98/EC all existing exclusive arrangements that restrict the re-use of public sector information have to be opened up. The first part of that process within a Member State is to identify where these agreements exist and to make them public.
If you are aware of an exclusive arrangement that exists within the UK that has not been listed by OPSI then the ePSIplus Thematic Network recommends that in the first intance you notify the UK OPSI.
