TrafikLab, Swedish Traffic Data Experiments
Göteborg, 14 September 2011
(by Ton Zijlstra)
A group of public transportation organizations in Sweden, working under the umbrella of Samtrafiken, the city of Göteborg, the ViktoriaResearch Institute and the Swedish Transport Administration have launched 'TrafikLab'.
TrafikLab is an initiative to open up traffic data. It aims to make it easier to access data, through API's providing real time data of the public transport companies. By showing what is available it becomes easier to discuss what one could do with the data. Also the site will show what others have been doing with the data already, as a source of inspiration, and provide documentation on how to use the API's.
Early October the event TravelHack will take place, as we reported last month, a coding event to build applications with the available data.
