Sweden responds

Stockholm: 11 December 2008

The Swedish national ePSIplus Thematic Network public sector information (PSI) meeting was held in Stockholm on the 11 December 2008. Over 65 people attended the meeting. The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce has reported:

“A PSI law is underway in Sweden. At the Swedish national PSI meeting at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce State Secretary Dan Ericsson in the Ministry of Finance announced that draft legislation would be presented by the 30 June 2009. This is in light of the recent infringement procedure launched by the Commission. The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce alerted the Commissions to the incorrect implementation of the PSI Directive in Sweden. Mr Peter Egardt President of the Chamber, yesterday welcomed the Government’s plans. The PSI meeting went on to explore issues not covered by the Government’s new plan such as independent complaints’ procedures, a PSI oversight body, pricing and other issues. Substantial discussions were on PSI as a part of growth policy and in competition policy. The Commission, UK’s OPSI, PSI Alliance and authorities in the fields of geographical information, demographical data, and meteorological data were among the presenters.

The documents and announcements from and about the meeting are available at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (Swedish language).”
