In December 2009, Katleen Janssen defended her PhD on the relationship between the PSI directive, the INSPIRE directive and the directive on access to environmental information (Access directive) within the EU legal framework.

In her thesis, she analysed the field of application, the objective and the content of the three directives, identified the causes for the problematic character of their relationship, and made recommendations for the next steps in the discussion.

This paper summaries the work. The complete thesis will be published in June - July 2010.
