Although no longer being updated, the ePSINet project standards map (January 2004) is an excellent resource for reviewing and understanding metadata standards for government information in Europe.

The map includes over 600 standards, providing a simple explanation and links to further information on each standard. The map, which was created in Microsoft Excel, can be viewed on the web (ePSIgate site) or, for greater speed of access, saved as an Excel file. If you know the name of the standard for which you are seeking further information, go to the Index, otherwise, click on the Taxonomy tab for a list of topics that will lead you to the standards relevant to your area of interest.
