Spanish Government continues as European leader on PSI

Madrid: March 2010

The latest development by Spain’s PSI Information Service, Proyecto Aporta, is an online beta Public Information Catalogue.

Proyecto Aporta works under the framework of the Spanish Avanza Plan, which is focused on fostering Information Society developments in Spain through various projects and initiatives directed at improving economic productivity and the general welfare of all Spanish citizens.

In publishing the online catalogue, Proyecto Aporta demonstrates again its resourcefulness, enthusiasm and innovation in communicating and connecting with PSI communities and in sharing information about PSI re-use benefits, developments in Spain and elsewhere, as well as being in tune with future strategies and challenges.

In addition to the catalogue, some of Proyecto Aporta’s major initiatives include an engaging PSI information service web portal; multi format Guide to re-using PSI for the public sector; development of unique European PSI training courses and multi media training materials; and meetings on PSI re-use involving the European and Spanish PSI communities.

This is only stage 1 of the Aporta catalogue and their plans are to continue development of the catalogue; for example, how the data can be accessed and what data formats can be accessed. The Aporta catalogue is currently a unique European development with only one other Member State, Denmark under Digitaliser.dk, publishing a relatively similar online catalogue (setting aside the data.gov.uk portal).
