Spain launched a national data portal in beta today. It had been previously announced, amongst others at the 15th PSI Group meeting in Luxembourg in September. From today Spanish data sets can be found at datos.gob.es. At launch the portal seems to hold some 400 data sets. Already Spain has seen the emergence of various local and regional data portal initiatives.

The launch follows upon the heels of the adoption of a Royal Decree last week in which the Spanish government implemented an 'Open by Default' approach to the re-use of government held data and information.
