(by Ton Zijlstra)
Today the Aporta.es event "ENCUENTRO DE INICIATIVAS OPEN DATA EN ESPAÑA:RETOS Y SOLUCIONES" took place in Madrid, at the Ministry for Industry, Tourism and Trade (see the program). With lively discussion in 5 round tables still in store, the day already started with a high-light.
In his opening statement Fernando de Pablo (Director General para el Impulso de la Administración Electrónica. Ministerio de Política Territorial y Administración Pública) announced that Spain will launch a national open data portal before the end of 2011. This news was greeted with enthusiasm by the audience, as it is the first such public acknowledgement of a project that already is underway.
The URL will be datos.gob.es.
