The French Departement Saône-et-Loire has decided to open up their data, reports la Gazette.fr. With the planned release of data the Departement is aiming at democratic and social-economic impacts.
With this step Saône-et-Loire is joining a growing list of local initiatives in France.
Early October is set as the date for the release of datasets. Among the data sets being readied for release are the salaries and cost reimbursements to elected officials, hiking paths, as well as subsidies paid out.
The map above gives an overview of current local open government data initiatives in France, as prepared by LiberTIC. (The LiberTIC blog is also a good source for regular updates on these initiatives.)
