Rich Crop of Fingal Apps Competition Entries

The application building competition, called Apps4Fingal, the Irish county Fingal is organizing has yielded a rich list of entries. The Fingal open data project with this competition aims to stimulate both re-use of their own open data as well as to help create examples that help convince other public sector bodies of open data. With the deadline for entering into the competition now passed, 23 applications and 36 ideas for applications, have been submitted. All entries have been published on-line: see the 23 applications, and the 36 ideas.

Dominic Byrne, of Fingal Open Data, said in a message to the Open Data Ireland mailing list: "...we need to have tangible
examples of what can be achieved when public sector data is released, in order to illustrate to other public sector agencies the benefits of releasing their data. With the Apps that were submitted, we now have excellent examples that can be showcased for this purpose."
