Public Sector Datasets Catalogues

Asturias, Spain: 9 October 2009

Open Data @ CTIC is the Blog and information site of the Fundación CTIC. The site publishes comprehensive, current and stimulating discussions and information about pubic data access and re-use topics.

Open Data @ CTIC comments that: the discussion is no longer about whether to create a data.gov but rather the question is ‘how to create it’.

Recently, Open Data @ CTIC has published a list of Public Sector Data Catalogues. The list is extensive with 20 links to public data catalogues. This is a list which will continue to grow. It includes datasets made public by international organisations such as the World Bank and the United Nations. The datasets are from countries across continents including Europe at national and municipal levels.

  • Catálogos de Datasets del Sector Público (in Spanish)
  • Public Sector Datasets Catalogue (in English)

Open Data @ CTICdescribes their work:

“Every day, public administrations and agencies around the world are producing vast amounts of information in carrying out their public functions.

Whether called "Open Government Data" (OGD) or "Re-use of Public Sector Information, CTIC believes that there is need for greater disclosure from the public sector in open formats, open, standard, accessible formats to maximize the potential for re-use.

CTIC leads the global initiative on W3C eGoverment in identifying the way forward to achieve success and develop good practice.

datos.fundacionctic.org area is the site of "Open Data" in CTIC, created to help governments and public agencies in the publication of information and complying with current regulations and to maximize the potential for re-use by third parties and the technology sector.”
