London and Madrid: June 2010

The PSI Meeting 2010 (English or Spanish) which took place on the 9th June in Madrid attracted 200 participants from throughout Spain and Europe.

Meeting Discussions focused on the theme of ‘Realising the Value of Public Sector Information’ were structured around four roundtable panels including speakers representing the following groups.

  • Policy makers
  • Open data business entrepreneurs and innovators
  • Researchers, academics and economists
  • PSI Holders: the public sector from all levels of government
  • PSI Re-users: Citizens, non profit organisations and the business community
  • Digital Activists working with the leading edge technologies to open up PSI and make re-use possible
  • Open Data Activists working to promote open data initiatives

Such a mix of panel members and participants resulted in lively and stimulating debates. The meeting was a forum to share experiences and perspectives on the value of public sector information - to learn from the success stories, to find about what works, and to take a look at the problems and possible solutions. During the meeting, contacts were made and persons across Europe are continuing the discussions online, on Twitter and in other forums.

  • Work is underway to publish the meeting video online and other multimedia meeting materials and this will be announced when editing work is completed and the resources are online. A report on the meeting is also forthcoming.
