The problem of the level playing field!
Sherborne St John, UK: 27 January 2010
The European Association of Private Meteorological Services (PRIMET) has published a report on the UK Locus Association meeting held in London on Monday 25th January 2010. The full report available to PRIMET members goes on to consider the believe of the speakers at the meeting that the argument with respect to timely access to public sector information as a universal democratic right has been won.
The public report states:
“At a recent meeting, Professor Nigel Shadbolt, who with Tim Berners-Lee is running a UK government project to allow free access to PSI, and Francis Maude MP, the Conservative spokesman on PSI, both hinted that any future UK government would make most PSI, including meteorological data, freer and easier to access.
Regulation for the meteorological and other sectors may also be on the way to redress the problem of the level playing field.”
