Ordnance Survey reports loss of £2.7 million

The UK Ordnance Survey of Great Britain have published their annual report titled: Annual Report and Accounts 2009-10. (104 pages, HC195, ISBN: 9780102965070, ID 2361146, 07/10).

The report on page 8 states:

  • Revenues are £114.3 million.
  • Profit before restructuring costs is £16.6 million
  • Loss for the year is £2.7 million
  • Dividend paid to the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) is £5.8 million

PointX Limited, a 50% joint venture investment

  • Turnover of £1.1 million
  • Profit of £0.3 million

The report on page 73 states:

Trading Revenue by Channel

  • Direct licences £71.889 million

  • Services £4.373 million

Post-balance sheet events

“On 1 April 2010 £20 million of public dividend capital was introduced by the Department for Communities and Local Government into Ordnance Survey together with an agreement to extend the £15 million revolving credit facility to 2015. This revised capital structure reflects the launch of OS OpenData and the anticipated completion in 2010 of the head office building and a major IT infrastructure programme.”

The report on page 13 states:

“Work continues on revising our pricing and licensing with the introduction of a new model expected in late 2010. We will be proposing changes to our derived data policy for the commercial sector and working with The National Archives and Cabinet Office to ensure that derived data issues do not unnecessarily impede the release of public dataset by other public bodies.”
