OPSI LF June report
The UK Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) Licensing Forum has published the minutes of the meeting held on the 4 June 2009 at the premises of UK Companies House based in Cardiff. The meeting considered topics that included:
1. Companies House:
- Over 315,000,000 pages of company information are stored in the database. A company document is ordered every 4 seconds 42,100,000 hits are received monthly by their electronic services
Companies House Information Customers include:
- Agents and professionals are significant consumers
- Businesses themselves, who may be completing due diligence on current and potential business partners
- Warehousers – who store large amounts of data from numerous sources for analysis, such as credit reference agencies
- Wholesalers – whose focus is onward dissemination
- Consumers – investigating companies and directors they may do business with

3. Ordnance Survey Open Space
4. The new OPSI Information Fair Trader Scheme (IFTS) Strategy
The next OPSI Licensing Forum is scheduled for the 21st September 2009 at the Environment Agency premises in London.
Future topics for consideration included:
- Electronic licensing;
- The process of taking infringements through court;
- Information Comissioners Office’s view on data sharing between government departments;
- Ordnance Survey new business strategy;
- OPSI’s plans to move to non-transactional licensing.
