The yearly Open Government Data Camp is taking place in Warsaw on 20 and 21 October 2011. Registration for this event is now open.
The Open Knowledge Foundation and Centrum Cyfrowe are taking the lead in organizing the event, but it is an effort of 23 international organizations, of which the epsiplatform.eu team is one.
With an expected 400 participants from 50 countries the OGD Camp brings together civil servants, developers, NGOs and others for two days of talks, workshops and project sprints.
The camp has 4 key objectives:
- Build consensus – around core open data principles and values
- Build community – expand and strengthen international open data community
- Share ideas – on the future of open data and how we can do things better
- Make things – from starting projects, to making plans, to writing code
The Open Government Data Camp aims to help to build irreversible global momentum for open data, and to encourage more organisations and institutions to adopt open data principles as part of their organisational DNA.
Next to the two days of the OGD Camp itself, the surrounding days will see many 'satellite' events taking place.
The epsiplatform.eu team is looking forward to host two sessions. One session aimed at strengthening the network of open data community members in Easter Europe, and a session diving deeper into how local public sector bodies (cities, municipalities) can use open data as an instrument to reach their own policy and budget goals.
The hashtag for the event is #ogdcamp.
