Open Data Switzerland Association Founded

With over 50 people in attendance OpenData.ch has been formally founded as an association in Switzerland. With this step the Swiss open data community has created structure that will help move its activities forward as well as serve as a point of contact for both Swiss public sector bodies and other interested parties. Next to those external benefits of a single point of contact and more visibility, it also creates the needed structure for the internal allocation of roles and responsibilities.
Over the last 18 months the Swiss open data community has been growing steadily.

The first board of OpenData.ch has been elected:

  • André Golliez (chairman),
  • Hannes Gassert (vice chairman),
  • Barnaby Skinner (treasurer),
  • Andreas Amsler (Community & communication, German),
  • Christian Laux (Legal),
  • Antoine Logean (Community & communication, French),
  • Giorgio Pauletto (Romandie),
  • Matthias Stürmer (parliamentary working group)

Membership is open to both individuals and organisations (as a 'collective membership'). A registration form for new members is available.

During the meeting also three events have been announced: a hack-day in March, on mobility, a conference in June, and another hack-day in the Fall (possibly on health).
