The Norwegian Statistics office is publicly and actively seeking input and ideas for the development of a new website. Plans for the new site are to achieve higher levels of dissemination and easier access to their data.

Statistics Norway has set up a Blog Prosjekt “Nye ssb.no”/ Project New ssb.no to elicit ideas and feedback from users. The Blog describes development plans for the new site and captures the discussion already taking place, for example, about navigation concepts, APIs, widgets and other options to facilitate access and promote re-use.

The new site will offer better data access for citizens and for potential re-use of Norwegian data to develop new services and products. With already two years of planning completed, Statistics Norway is embarking on the next development phase working to the launch of the new site during 2010 - 2011.

Statistics Norway is maintaining their current disclosure policy which already provides open and free access to data. The goal of the new site is to provide access in better and simpler ways that facilitates data re-use by citizens and businesses.
