Market Interference
The Swedish Competition Authority (Konkurrensverket) has published a press release titled: Offentlig näringsverksamhet ska inte konkurrera med privat (Public actors must not compete with private).
The press release states:
“Kommuner och andra offentliga aktörer ska inte agera på fungerande marknader. Det tränger undan etablerade företag och hindrar nyföretagande. Det skriver Konkurrensverket i ett remissvar till regeringen.”
The English press release states:
“Municipalities and other public actors should not be allowed to operate in functioning markets, since they force out established businesses and obstruct market entry. Worst hit are small local enterprises.”
