Making Data Come Alive
Over the last few years professor Hans Rosling has given several talks at TED in which he challenges old assumptions about the state of the world by making statistical data come alive. It is how Gapminder got started, a tool that allows the animation of statistical data over time. A great example of how re-using data, in this case global statistical data, can create insight and learning, and how visualization techniques are important.
Last month at the TED conference he gave a presentation again, this time on child mortality rates in the world (one of the UN's millennium goals). Below you see this presentation on video.
