Madrid PSI Meeting 2010: New Date: 9 June
Date of this News Announcement: London and Madrid: 21 May 2010
The meeting “Realising the value of Public Sector Information” has been re-scheduled to a NEW date which is the 9th June, Madrid.
This announcement is from Proyecto Aporta and the ePSIplatform who are jointly organising the Madrid PSI Meeting 2010.
- "The reason for the date change to the 9th of June is that we have just learned that the Spanish largest trade unions have called a public sector workers strike for the original date of the meeting which was the 8th June. Taking into account the extremely negative effects that this strike could have on the meeting in terms of attendance, publicity and public impact, as well as in terms of logistical problems, it is with great regret that we have decided to put off the meeting until the 9th June 2010."
- We are sure you can understand the circumstances that have brought about this decision, and we apologise for any inconvenience this change might cause. We count on your valuable contribution to the meeting and look forward to seeing you in Madrid.
- There is no registration fee. Advance registration is required. We encourage you to register early to ensure a place at the meeting.

The European ‘Open Data Community’ is moving forward quickly and experiencing much success in opening up and re-using government data. This meeting is a forum bringing together those focused on understanding and learning about the value of public sector information from the European policy to the local level and across sectors. Participants will include leading European experts and representatives from agencies, institutions, companies and civil society – all involved in re-using public sector information.
- During the meeting, the focus will be on learning more about the value of PSI (Public Sector Information) when it is opened up for re-use.
- It is a one day forum to stimulate dialogue, discussion and debate starting at the European policy level moving on to innovative business models and then measuring the economic value of PSI re-use and examining the social value of PSI for citizens.
- On the topic of measuring economic value, there will be feedback on the work of the European Commission’s PSI Economic Indicators Working Group. Interested participants will have the opportunity to become involved in online processes to collect data to measure PSI re-use indicators across value chains on the demand and supply sides.
