INSPIRE + 1 month!

Rotterdam: 17 June 2009

The INSPIRE Directive came into force in all European Union Member States on the 15th May 2009.

EUROSTAT reported at the 12th PSI Group meeting held in Luxembourg on the 12 June 2009 that only two EU Member States notified that they had completed the transposition of the INPSIRE Directive into Member State legislation by the 15th May 2009.

Further information on the status of transposition by the Member States was provided in the second session of the INSPIRE Conference 2009 where it was stated that the following Member States had transposed the INSPIRE Directive:

  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Germany (at Federal level and 2 Länder)
  • Hungary
  • Netherlands

At the current time there appears to be no European Commission operated web site that reports on the transposition notifications received from the Member States.

The second session of the INSPIRE Conference titled: INSPIRE: Building the European SDI was chaired by Daniele Rizzi, EUROSTAT, European Commission

INSPIRE: The European Spatial Data Infrastructure, presented by Massimo Craglia, DG JRC, European Commission. Slides 77 to 116

INSPIRE in the European Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) presented by Hugo de Groof, DG Environment, European Commission 117 to 145

The questions asked from the floor during the INSPIRE conference have been published along with photographs.
