The importance of data policies

The materials from the Awareness seminar on Turkey’s National Geographic Information System have been published. The seminar took place on 21 January 2010 in Ankara.

The presentations included one titled: The Value & Cost of NSDI: Experiences and Lessons Learned, presented by Roger Longhorn. The n refers to the European Public Sector Information Platform and the inter relationships between the INSPIRE and the PSI re-use Directives and the relationship with eGovernment initiatives and how these are part of a spatial data infrastructure and the associated terminology as:

“SDI = data policies (publishing, access, sharing, charging, re-use, privacy, etc.), legislation, monitoring and enforcement provisions, capacity building, technical standards and solutions (digital GI, GIS, geoweb services, etc.)”
