Helsinki Data Kitchen
Amsterdam, 16 September 2011
(by Ton Zijlstra)
During the three day PICNIC conference and festival in Amsterdam last week, one of the little buildings in the makeshift conference city that was build on the former NDSM shipyard was dedicated to cooking with data: the Helsinki Data Studio.
In the Helsinki Data Studio coders and designers, dressed in cook's clothing, created data visualizations based on the ideas and suggestions of guests.
This way they raised awareness and attention for the Helsinki Region Infoshare project, which shares regional government held data, and the Apps4Finland competition that is currently taking place again.
