Germany Launches Open Gov Study
The German Ministry for the Interior has announced it has contracted the Fraunhofer FOKUS institute to do a study on Open Government and Open Government Data. This as part of the Ministry's open government program
The study is expected to provide solutions to technical, legal and organisational questions, around Open Government. Results of the study should be available mid 2012.
The German government's deputy minister responsible for IT, Staatssekretärin Cornelia Rogall-Grothe said "The study will form the foundation for the further implementation of Open Government and Open Data in Germany. Depending on the outcome of the study a prototype will be created, with which experience can be collected for the realization and implementation of a cross-level open government platform, which could start in 2013." The mentioned time frame for such a platform (2013) is consistent with the planning mentioned in the 2010 document on the German open government program, linked above.
