This Friday and Saturday an invitation-only hackathon is taking place, organized by Europeana. Europeana holds a very large metadatabase on European cultural heritage. Earlier this year they released an API that allows dynamic access to this metadata. The API is currently only available to Europeana network partners and for non-commercial use.

To highlight and promote the possibilities that the API and re-use of Europeana data offer, a first Hackathon is being held in Hilversum, Netherlands. This is planned to be the first event of a series of hackathons. About 30 invited developers, both independents and from various network partners of Europeana, will work for two days on developing apps.
