European PSI Survey underway
The European Commission as part of the preparations for the review of Directive 2003/98/EC has commissioned MICUS to undertake a survey of the PSI Re-use market across Europe. The survey involves three market sectors:
- Geographic information
- Meteorological information
- Legal information.
The survey was launched at the beginning of April 2008 when the topographic mapping agencies within each Member State were invited to complete an online questionnaire and to identify re-users of the information that they hold.
The re-users of geographic information identified by the Public Sector Information Holders are then invited to complete a re-use questionnaire. The survey utilises online questionnaires and is available in German and English.
PDF versions of the questionnaire and the supporting material have been published to encourage re-users of Public Sector Geographic Information to participate in the survey. All re-users of geographic information that have not been invited to complete an online questionnaire by MICUS are encouraged to contact MICUS in order that they can be included within the survey at the earliest opportunity.
For the survey to be meaningful and for an accurate assessment to be made that will enable comparison with the earlier MEPSIR study base line (under taken in 2005) comprehensive coverage of the re-users of geographic information is required.
