European Address Forum Workshop

Navarra: 18 June 2010

The European Address Forum (EAF) has organised a workshop at the INSPIRE Conference 2010. The workshop will take place on Tuesday the 22nd June 2010 starting at 1600 hours in the Aula Srednia I, Room.

The workshop states:

Summary

Over the last decade is has become commonly acknowledged that good address systems and quality address data constitute an important part of a society’s infrastructure. More recently, the work done by EURADIN, a Best Practice Network funded by the EU under the eContentplus program, has again shown this to be true. Every day addresses are used as a common language that provides citizens, business entities and public administrations with a simple and clear description of locations. The majority of economic activity consists of people in organizations supplying goods and services to other people and organizations at places described by an address. Good quality addressing can make a substantial difference to the efficiency with which this is done and have a material impact upon the value or cost of the services provided. Not least, addresses are used as the common reference, when people or applications need to join or exchange information from different sources. Better addressing thus has substantial economic and practical value and a very considerable, even if often unrecognized, importance; the European Address Forum wants to encourage the realization of its benefits, from emergency response efficiency to new value added products and applications. The goal of the Workshop is to present the European Address Forum expecting:

  • to encourage the development of good address systems and to achieve harmonized access to good quality address data throughout Europe as part of the INSPIRE initiative for the benefit of citizens, government and businesses.
  • to support experiences and Best Practices exchange, follow-up INSPIRE implementation regarding addresses, increase collective knowledge and develop new activities for achieving these objectives between all involved organizations.”
