Economic working groups launched!

In the European Commission Communication on the implementation of the re-use of public sector information framework Directive 2003/98/EC that was published on 7th May 2009 and reported that the European Commission would undertake a series of economic studies at the European level.

The European Commission led PSI Group considered the Commissions proposal at the 12th meeting of the PSI Group that took place on the 12th June 2009. The meeting agreed to hold a further meeting devoted to economic measurement and an economic analysis of pricing models adopted by public sector bodies. The meeting took place on the 12th November 2009.

The meeting on the 12th November 2009 agreed to establish 5 working groups on PSI Economic Indicators on the following themes:

  1. Address Information
  2. Cadastral Information
  3. Company Information
  4. Legal Information
  5. Meteorological Information

and one working group on Economic Case for Marginal Cost/Cost Recovery.

The Terms of Reference and the working papers for each of the above groups have been published on the European Public Sector Information Platform.

All public sector information stakeholders are invited to observe and provide feedback to the working groups.

All of the working groups are now seeking both public sector and private sector organisations that will be willing to participate in the economic studies that will be launched in the Autumn of 2010 by the European Commission.
