EC: Digital Agenda portfolio
The European Commission has announced the proposed portfolios for the new European Commission. The European Parliament is scheduled to interview each of the Commissioners designate in January 2010 with final approval by the European Parliament at the end of January 2010.
The press release IP/09/1837 states:
“José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, today announced the portfolios responsibilities for the next Commission. The President has held detailed consultations with all the Commissioners-designate in order to assign the right jobs to the right people. The President believes that this team can deliver the agenda for change he set out in the political guidelines he presented in September, following his nomination by all 27 Member States and before his approval as President of the next Commission by the European Parliament.”
The press release shows that the current European Commissioner for the Information Society Viviane Reding is moving to Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship portfolio and that Neelie KROES will hold the Digital Agenda. The TABLE on page 4 of the press release states that the services that the Digital Agenda includes.
