Dutch University Starts Data Journalism Master
The University of Tilburg in the Netherlands is starting a master track on data journalism this year.
This english language curriculum is the first such Dutch university track and combines ICT and journalism. This master will be part of the existing master communication and information sciences. Themes covered are data analysis, data storytelling, data visualization and data publication. It will draw also on existing master courses on Human Aspects of Information Technology (HAIT) en Corporate communications and digital media.
The master will prepare students to work as investigative journalist, data consultant, or new media specialist.
The university website describes the data journalism master as combining "the scientific methods of data treatment with the core values of journalism: select, arrange, digest and reflect."
