In a letter to parliament the Dutch deputy Minister for Finance announced that starting 2012 the valuation data of real estate properties will be published. These valuations form the basis for property taxes on home owners by local governments. They have been the cause of much confusion amongst citizens, due to the opacity in the way these valuations are made. Together with the data on the valuations itself, the valuation reports by local governments will be structured more clearly to further increase transparency.
