Data Driven Journalism in Manchester

Data driven journalism is a topic that is gaining a lot of interest, with several recent events focussing on it in the UK, the Netherlands as well as elsewhere. Scraperwiki is organizing hands-on events putting 'hacks' together with 'hackers' for a 'hack day'. This third event will take place in Manchester.

"The aim is to show journalists how to use programming and design techniques to create online news stories and features; and vice versa, to show programmers how to find, develop, and polish stories and features. All sorts of data was scraped and used at past events" Earlier events took place in Liverpool and Birmingham.

During the event, small teams of journalists and developers will work together on creating a project that can be published and shared at the end of the day.
