During the final plenary session at the Digital Agenda Assembly (see program), Charlotte Sahl-Madsen, Minister for Science Technology and Innovation of Denmark was one of the speakers. She stated that EU needs to be much more ambitious when it comes to open government data, as it will stimulate new innovative services, and is important to a digital single market.
While formally the priorities the Danish government will set when it takes over the EU Presidency in 2012 are not to be announced until the end of 2011, Minister Sahl-Madsen did provide a sneak-peek. The review of the PSI Directive (with recommendations by the EC to be expected in November, following the recent public consultation) and the resulting reform decisions will be a priority for the Danish presidency.
Minister Sahl-Madsen is responsible for the ITST agency, which coordinates policy making and activities around stimulating PSI re-use in Denmark. ITST's Cathrine Lippert last week posted a guest posting on our blog explaining some of the more grass roots activities ITST is involved in. Digitaliser.dk is the primary platform in Denmark where you can find out more about developments concerning PSI Re-use, as well as Danish data sources, and support material.
