Berlin Launches Data Portal

Berlin, 14 September 2011

(by Ton Zijlstra)

The German state Berlin has launched a data portal today, the first German state to do so. The portal's address is daten.berlin.de.

All the data is being made available under a Creative Commons BY license, which means any reuse by any party is permitted, under the sole condition of acknowledging Berlin as the source of the data. Next to making available data the Berlin data portal is also used to showcase examples of application and re-use of Berlin data. There is also an explicit invitation to citizens, civic organisations and enterprises to join the discussion on next steps.

At launch the data portal contains data about the labour market, education, demographics, geographics, zoning, climate, environment, elections and economy.
