Bavarian CIO announces open-data Directory

The CIO of the federal state of Bavaria Franz Josef Pschierer announced the launch of an Open Data Portal at the "Netzdialog Bayern 2011" on July, 18th in Munich. From the press release:

CIO Pschierer announces Open Data Directory"In order to allow better access to public sector information and to create additional added value for citizens, we will build a website that makes all open-data in the Free State of Bavaria easily searchable in all common data formats", announced Franz Josef Pschierer on Monday (CIO of the Federal State of Bavaria) on Monday, July 18th at the "Netzdialog Bayern 2011" in Munich.

"We will work with the leading associations of local authorities and business and exchange ideas on Federal and Federal State level to further advance the Open Government Initiative in Bavaria" said Pschierer.

Pschierer praised the progress being made in ​​e-government in the last few years, but pointed also to the challenges of global change and the need for new approaches: "The state has to become even more open to the citizens, to utilize the creative potential for society: Transparency of government actions and Participation in important decisions in politics and administration have to be expanded".

The "Net Dialogue in Bavaria," a symposium for citizens, government and business, was held for the first time and was initiated by Pschierer to discuss the paradigms of "Open Data, Open Government, Web 2.0 and Social Media" with experts from administration, business and science as well as the Web 2.0 scene.
