London: 19 February 2009

The Guardian Technology campaign for free public access to data about the UK and its citizens has published a topic on the Free Our Data blog titled: Tories demand publication of Trading Funds review, back free data principles. The article reports on the open debate that took place in central London on the 10 February 2009.

Paul Downey has also published a report on the same debate.

Adam Afriyie, Member of Parliament has published his speech titled: Government must improve access to data

With respect to the monitoring of the transposition and implementation of the European Union Directive 2003/98/EC on the re-use of public sector information under taken by the ePSIplus Thematic network over the past 30 months is that when Member State Governments change there is at times a change of policy with respect to public sector information, re-structuring of the public sector and other changes all of which have an affect on the implementation of the Directive. Sustainability is therefore dependent upon all PSI stakeholders keeping all politicians informed not just those that hold the reins of Government at any one time. The European PSI Alliance strategy has recognised this point and has taken it into account within its action plan.
