15 Years recommended!
The UK Government has announced the publication of the report from the independent review into the 30 year rule. The report titled: Independent review recommends halving 30-year rule recommends that the government replaces the current 30-year rule with a 15-year rule, regarding both the transfer of public records to the National Archives and the allowing of access to them to both increase the transparency of government and to improve the quality of public understanding and discussion.
The report was published on the 29 January 2009 along with all the submissions received.
