10th Anniversary of NLPG!

London: 3 December 2009

The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) and Intelligent Addressing (IA) have announced the winners of the 2009 National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG) Exemplar Awards.

The announcement states:

The NLPG is a modern day Domesday Book for England and Wales that lists and locates more than 32 million residential, business and non-mailing addresses each with a unique property reference number (UPRN) which provides a reference key to join related address records across different datasets. It enables information to be easily shared and is central to opening up access to public information at both a local and national level. The NSG is the sister project to the NLPG providing a central list of streets in England and Wales. Together with the NSG, the NLPG represents the most successful example of a local government shared service delivered nationally. The sharing of accurate address information across local government departments, emergency services, national and regional government is a vital component in the drive to facilitate and improve efficiency and service delivery.
