The Indian Government, as part of their ongoing actions under the Open Government Partnership has launched the Indian national open data portal. The portal uses the Open Gov Platform which was co-developed with the United States.

The Indian government is about to launch its own public data portal in July, according to this article on The Next Web which talks about the new "National Data Sharing and Accessibility Policy". Maj. Gen. (Dr.) R. Siva Kumar, who heads the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (which is part of the Department of Science and Technology), was responsible for getting it passed.
