The Slovenian Commission for the Prevention of Corruption has announced a new web service that makes government expenditures (since 2003) visible and transparent for the public. The service called Supervizor gives access to data and allows for analysis.

Facing the current financial crisis the US Congress passed through the “Debt Ceiling” bill. The Debt Ceiling bill recently signed into law creates a congressional committee (nicknamed the “Super Congress”) that will make the decision on how to cut $1.5 trillion from the national debt. Even as this power is given to 12 members of Congress, the new law says very little about how open it should be. Only the first meeting, the ultimate report and the vote on the final product are required to be public.

In a session this morning Francis Maude, the UK Minister for the Cabinet Office, released departmental spending data over 25.000 pounds. This release, in the presence of a large group of participants in the Open Government Data Camp that is being organized by the Open Knowledge Foundation, is the single most detailed release of public spending data.
